Wedding days can be, and usually are, hectic. You will be pulled in a million different directions. Delays are more the norm than the exception. For wedding in Costa Rica, you have to take into account that the sun sets early leaving little time for family, group and bridal party photos, and less time for your bride and groom couple’s session if your wedding ceremony is not scheduled at the ideal time.
What’s a Bride & Groom Couple’s Session?
It’s the photo session that takes place after a wedding ceremony of just the bride and groom. Traditionally, right after the ceremony, a photographer will take photos of everyone you want in one large group, and then pictures of the bride and groom with immediate family, then with just the bride’s family, then the groom’s family, followed by photos of them with extended family, and ending with friends. Next are photos of the entire bridal party – bridesmaids and groomsmen – then with just the bridesmaids, then the groomsmen. If there’s time, some fun wedding photos with the bridal party can be taken.
After all these photos, it’s then time for the bride and groom couple’s session. 30-40 minutes is a good amount of time for this session to ensure a good amount of photos at 2-3 different locations a the resort and using different natural lighting and flash technique for creative wedding photos. To take creative, high quality wedding photos takes a bit of time, so this goes really quickly.
Why Have It The Next Day?
One way to alleviate some of this stress and ensure you get great wedding photos of just you two is to book a next-day couple’s session and plan on having just your family, group, and bridal party photos on your wedding day. We find couples are much more relaxed, that their photos come out much better given that they are relaxed, and couples are very happy with their bride and groom photos. Another bonus is that we can travel to another location that is more aseptically appealing than the locations available at the resort.
